Savills Home Truths
How do you create compelling stories about the property market?
Over the last few years, change has seemed like the only constant. Like every other sector, the property industry had to adapt—from shuttering high street doors and moving online to keeping homeowners, landlords and tenants up to date during uncertain times. Above all, one pressing question remained: was it a good time to sell, buy or let?
The Savills Home Truths series provided the answers. Experts unravelled the trends shaping local property markets, from demand and price movements to rental trends and the outlook ahead. Traditionally held in person, the events also gave agents a chance to connect directly with their local communities.
Then the pandemic forced Home Truths online. One upside: Savills could reach a much wider audience. The downside: buffering streams, poor visuals and (I’m going to be brutally honest here) some quite drab presentations. Worse still, the webinars felt impersonal.
The whole point of Home Truths was to show that Savills agents really were local. They got the property market and all its charms and frustrations. They knew what made an area or home special—and what might persuade someone to pack up all their earthly possessions (no small feat) to move there. That sense of personality and place was getting lost online.
As we emerged from lockdown, another issue arose: consumer expectations had changed. In a highly competitive market, the DIY nature and low production value of the webinars no longer held up. We needed to communicate more effectively while aligning the experience with Savills’ reputation as a premium brand.
I pitched transforming the programme into a series of on-demand videos with a clear visual identity, high production values and compelling narratives—content that could also be easily snipped and repurposed across different platforms. The result? Beautiful videos that told stories about the property market with human warmth and honest insight.
I coordinated the videographer and prepped interviewees to make filming as smooth as possible, then edited the videos myself, creating the motion graphics and visual design that gave each episode a distinctive yet cohesive look. Beyond production, I led all in-house distribution and marketing, developing and executing the content strategy, writing the associated copy, and designing graphics for social media and email campaigns.
